12.5 Kw Solar Power & 16.5 Kw Diesel Generator
This ranch is totally off the grid, producing its own power via 48 – 250 watt solar panels producing 12.5 kilowatts of power. As far as I know, this is the largest private solar power farm in all of Panama. To give you an example, in 2015, the average annual electricity consumption for a U.S. residential utility customer was 901 kWh per month.
What I am trying to point out is that you will be producing daily what most people use in a month. That means you have a lot of electricity.
This system also has back up redundancy. The primary inverter is a Xantrex 6 Kw inverter with a Xantrex 4 kw inverter as a back up.
There are two Outback power converters, one for each panel array.
There is also a complete “hands free” system built in where if by chance the power does run low, you have a Xantrex automatic generator activation unit.
The back up industrial grade generator is a 16.5 kilowatt diesel generator with a 30 gallon tank. At the moment there is just over 1200 hours on this generator, which if you know anything about diesel engines, this motor is not even fully broken in yet. She is still some what new with a lot of years still in her.
